The Tech Advisory Committee always needs people who know things

At the Inner West Tech Advisory Committee we are always looking to add to our pool of expertise: founders, operators and technical people we can call on when we're reviewing startups.

Who we are

The Inner West Tech Advisory Committee is a collaboration between Inner West Council and Inner West Startups + Tech. We help startups and small companies who want to sell products and services to councils understand what councils actually need, and how to present their ideas so they land.

What we do
Councils receive a lot of approaches from companies with genuinely useful products, but too often the pitch misses the mark. It doesn't connect to the real problems councils face, or it isn't explained in a way that helps council make a decision. We bridge that gap. We help start-ups test their offer against what needs, we draw on a panel of industry experts for specific problems, and we draw on our own experience and collaboration with Inner West Council to help companies get in front of the right people.

What we are not
To be clear, the Committee doesn't have any say in what council purchases, and we can't guarantee procurement or a contract for anyone. We're here to help small companies and startups understand what councils need and present themselves well. The decision always rests with council.

Where you come in…
The panel of experts is what we're building here. Startups submit their product or service to us, and we review it — but no small group has the range to properly assess everything that comes through. So we keep a pool of founders, operators and technical people we can call on when something lands that fits their patch. Same goes for council problems that sit in your area.

What it involves
No fixed meetings, no term. We get in touch when something suits your experience, and you say yes or no based on what's on your plate that month.
